As an encore for his career-high 56 points, James Harden joined the small 35/10/10/5 club during his duel with LeBron James on Thursday. Michael Jordan, Michael Ray Richardson and Terry “almost traded for Michael Jordan” Cummings were the only members of the club since 1983.
As impressive as The Beard’s 35 points, 13 assists, 11 rebounds and 5 steals line in the Rockets win is, after putting up 11/5/5/4 in the first quarter, it looked like he had a chance at joining the Rockets Hakeem Olajuwon as one of the four players in NBA history to ever rack up a quadruple-double; Worth mentioning is Hakeem had another quadruple taken away (due to stat padding by the Rockets stat guys) and his teammate, Clyde Drexler, was robbed of a quadruple-double in 1996.
As for the Arthur-liking King, who is a member of the 30/10/10/5 club, he had 33 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal and a season-high 9 turnovers; This was also LeBron’s third game this young season with 8+ turnovers.
Here’s a bonus stat LeBron-liking fans aren’t going to like: Harden has won 4 of his last 5 games against Bron and here’s the numbers he put up in those 5 games.
- 11/5/5/3 (loss)
