Last week, Matt Barnes told ex NBA player Casey Jacobson to “eata d!ck with ur two yr NBA career u bum!!” on Twitter after Jacobson tweeted that Blake Griffin should have shot the ball on a specific possession instead of giving it to Barnes. Some would say it was immature of Barnes but most of us thought it was amusing. But last night, Barnes supposedly had something similar to say to James Harden’s Mom, Monja Willis, which isn’t amusing at all and didn’t sit too well with one of her sons.
According to TMZ, that son “walked over to him and told him to apologize…and he did.” Willis said she accepted Barnes’ apology and “What he told me was that he would never want to disrespect anyone’s mother because his mother passed from cancer … and that he was sorry.”
Although Matt does have a pretty lengthy history of saying profane and insulting things to and about everybody from fans to opponents to cops, he does a lot for the community, especially via his program Athletes vs Cancer which was started in honor of his Mom.
I don’t think the incident will serve as any extra motivation for Harden or any other player in the series, but I’m expecting some pretty intense action in games 3 and 4 – which happens to take place on Mother’s Day.
