I don’t remember what year it was but I remember reading once that Jermaine O’Neal lead the league in getting dunked on. Granted, in O’Neal’s first 10 year in the league he was going after everything and was usually in the top 5 in blocks but still, this is one stat you just don’t want to be leading the league in.
Last night vs Dwight Howard and the Rockets, O’Neal looked like that Blazer and Pacer that was going for everything when he first got posterized by Dwight Howard midway through the 4th quarter and then saved the game by blocking Chandler Parson’s dunk attempt.
“He made a great play going baseline, and when you’re big, you kind of look at it like being a free safety,” O’Neal said. “I wanted to make sure I got to the rim in time to save the dunk.”
“It was just perfect timing on his part,” Parsons said.
O’Neal’s final stat line for the night of 2 points 10 rebounds and 2 blocks wont impress many but the 35 year old did a great job defending Dwight and his team got the W.
Let’s check out some more O’Neal blocks
