I don’t know this for sure but I’m willing to bet that Jermaine O’Neal ranks right up there with Karl Malone, Shaq and Alonzo Mourning as players that have caused the most lane violations, been called for the most 10 second violations at the free throw line and been cursed at by the most players while at the line.
Thanks to Sports Illustrated – Point Forward we now have this funny video compilation showing many of these instances.
What’s funny is O’Neal shoots them quicker when he only has 1 hand.
Speaking of funny O’Neal instances. Back in May of 1996, Jermaine O’Neal said he would be entering the NBA draft just like high school standouts Kobe Bryant and Taj McDavid but he also said he was going to take the SAT test TWO(!) more times so he could get the 100 points to qualify for college (South Carolina, Clemson & Kentucky were his top 3 choices). On his first of two attempts he showed up to the wrong school and then when it was time for his 2nd attempt he was a no show at the school. His mother told the media that he was “out of town” but did not say exactly where he was or why.
Lucky for O’neal, he didn’t need the passing SAT score and was able to become a pretty good and very, very rich NBA player…with a very, very frustrating free throw routine.
