Let me first say I think 19-year old rookie Terrance Ferguson was a draft steal for OKC. He’s going to be a fan favorite this year, a possible Slam Dunk or 3-Point Shootout winner in the near future, a productive starter in a few years and possible All-Star. But on Saturday night against the Utah Jazz, he was Joe Ingles’ BITCH!
I’ve known and have been raving about T-Ferg for years and I’m only making that joke because I have so much confidence in his game and future. And T-Ferg was the victim of just one of Ingles’ shots; Andre Roberson and Paul George were each scored on twice by Ingles as he knocked down 7-of-12 from the field and 5-of-9 from three on his way to 19 points in just 27 minutes.
Why was Ingles talking smack to T-Ferg anyways? It’s probably because T-Ferg played for Ingles hometown Adelaide 36ers earlier this year, instead of playing college ball. Ingles once said he had two basketball goals when he was a boy: play for Australia and play for the Adelaide 36ers.
“Growing up I wanted to play for the 36ers more than ever,” Said Ingles back in 2016. “I wouldn’t take back winning the (NBL) Rookie of the Year or the championship but I’d still like to play for the Sixers in the future.”
As a teenager, he was once offered a contract by the 36ers but due to a low offer ($12,500 per season) and a misspelling on the contract (Joe English), he passed on his chance.
A decade later and here we are watching Ingles trash talk teenagers who did get a chance to play for the 36ers.
Besides taking an earful from Ingles, T-Ferg failed to attempt a shot, grabbed one board and picked up two fouls during his 10 minutes of action. But…
