Talking about Michael Jordan’s first 40 point game is like talking about Wilt Chamberlain losing his virginity, although we are able to prove that MJ scored 40+ points 211 times and we can’t prove that 211 for Wilt is a slow year.

On November 13th of 1984, Jordan officially became a man in the NBA when he broke the 40 point mark with a 45 point 10 rebound monster game vs George Gervin and the Spurs.  Jordan would only eclipse the 40 point mark 3 more times during his rookie season but picked up the pace with his popularity and did it 207 more times throughout his career.

Jordan’s actual stats for 40+ games are 172 times between 40-49, 34 between 50-59 and 5 times over 60.  38 of those 211 came during the playoffs.  Since we are on crazy stats in the playoffs the number of times MJ scored less than 20 in a playoff game is only 6! Less than 10?  0 times.
