There’s a handful of guys not in the NBA that I truly don’t know why they aren’t and on the top of that list is Josh Selby.
The former Grizzly, Jayhawk and High School great who was ranked by Rivals.com as the #1 guard (ahead of Kyrie Irving) during his senior year in 2010, has bounced around to multiple D-League and International teams over the past couple of years and, again, I have no idea why.
I do know when we saw him play against the BallUp team a year ago he was doing whatever he wanted whenever he wanted on the court – including a nice poster dunk on poster maker The Air Up There. But you are going to say “he was playing against streetballers.” Well, when we saw him play in the $500k The Tournament earlier in the summer, he scored 44 points on a team with only 4 players against a 5 man team made up of ex College and Pro players. You will probably say the keyword is “ex.”
Everytime the former McDonalds Slam Dunk Champion faces off against pro competition in pro-am and summer leagues, he stands out too. But for some reason, again, unknown to me, Selby is not in the NBA. I can’t defend him because I don’t know enough about his situations but I do know not many players in the league can defend him either.
