Kawhi Leonard Crosses Oladipo, Outscores Russell Westbrook 12-0 In 4th Quarter
Russell Westbrook scored 14 of his 27 points in the 3rd quarter on Tuesday, helping his team erase an 18-point deficit to the Spurs and go into the final quarter with a one-point lead. Then it was Kawhi Leonard time. The quiet MVP candidate was clutch, scoring 12 of his game-high 36 in the 4th, while the Spurs shut down Westbrook, forcing him to miss all four of his field-goal attempts.
“You’re just fired up just playing against Russ out there,” Said Leonard, who had a nice crossover on Victor Oladipo and Jordanesque move in the 4th quarter. “He’s out there competing on every possession. The way he’s been playing, he has been ridiculous. So, you definitely want to rise up to the challenge.”
Along with his 27 points, Westbrook had a game-high 14 assists and six boards; the six rebounds was his least amount in six games and the second lowest in the month of January.
