Kevin Garnett played 17 minutes during Sunday’s game against the Grizzlies and made 4 of 5 shots, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out an assist and had 3 steals.  The 39 year old vet also finished a fastbreak with a layup that I thought was definitely going to be a dunk. I wasn’t disappointed he didn’t throw down a dunk but it did make me reminisce a little back to when he would have dunked it like he hated the rim and then screamed afterwards.  I then started reminiscing back to when the skinny (skinnier) 19 year old kid made 4 of 4 shots and threw down his first NBA dunk during his NBA debut way back on November 3rd of 1995.

I then remembered having a VHS tape ready to record every single TWolves recap on ESPN to catch the latest dunks from him and JR Rider. I remember recording the following Inside Stuff interview with the kid who seemed liked he was always having fun but still preached hard work.

I remember recording the 1996 Rookie Game and jumping off my futon when Brent Barry made a fancy behind the head pass to KG who threw it down like he was back in high school with high-flying Ronnie Fields.

I then thought about that very talented 1996 class of rookies and then realized he’s the only active player from that class. And not only is he active but he’s wearing the same jersey today as he was 20 years ago. .
