Pending league approval, KG, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry will be joining Jason Kidd’s Nets in Brooklyn for Kim K’s ex, Reggie Evans, Gerald Wallace’s massive contract a few future 1st round picks and some fillers. This trade is an absolute steal for the Nets (who are willing to spend any amount of money) which is a feeling the Celtics had 6 years ago when they stole KG from the Timberwolves.
Ian Thomsen of SI told the story of current Celtics President Danny Ainge urging Red Auerbach decades ago to trade away Bird and McHale for young talent. Red not only kept the aging Celtics great but he traded away the whiny Danny Ainge a few months later to Sacramento. That trade obviously didn’t change Danny’s mindset.
I really thought Paul Pierce was going to be one of the rare players of the past 20 years to play his entire career with one team. I also assumed KG was going to end his career in Boston.
It’s going to be real interesting to see the Celtics next moves and how Brooklyn does with it’s new experienced expensive stars.
