During the NBA Finals, Jimmy Kimmel Live had a hilarious sketch called “NBA Players Reading Mean Tweets.”  One of the “mean” tweets Kobe had to read was about how everybody makes a big deal everytime the 34 year old dunked during his 17th season.

He actually dunked quite a few times in the past year and a few of those dunks including his throwdown on the Nets and Chris Paul deserved to be called “a big deal.”

I’ll admit those “big deal” dunks don’t happen as often as they did in his early years but since we are talking about misconceptions, I’ll put out the bold statement that Kobe Bryant was one of the top 5 dunkers of all-time during his first 5 seasons in the league.  Before Vinsanity entered the league, no player in NBA history was throwing down 360 dunks, windmills and reverse alley-oops as often and as nice as Kobe was.  He also has a long list of nasty facials that don’t often get the credit they deserve but maybe that’s because Kobe has accomplished so many bigger things over the past decades that only so many great moments can be remembered and considered a big deal.
