On this date in history, March 30th of 2007, Kobe Bryant scored 53 points, including 25 of the Lakers final 28 points in a 107-104 OT loss to the Houston Rockets.
Bryant’s late one-man show helped the Lakers overcome a 12-point 4th quarter deficit and force OT. But the Rockets dynamic duo of Yao Ming (39 points and 11 rebounds) and Tracy McGrady (30 points and 10 assists) were just too much too handle for the post-Shaq Lakers.
This was Bryant’s 8th 50-point game of the season. And with this 50, it gave him a scoring average of 48.4 points a game over his last seven. Here’s his previous six games.
- 23 vs Memphis
- 43 vs Golden State
- 50 vs New Orleans
- 60 vs Memphis
- 50 vs Minnesota
- 65 vs Portland
