Kobe joined the 30k club tonight against the Hornets.  Other members of the club include Laker great  Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928), Michael Jordan (32,292) and Wilt Chamberlain (31,419)!

In honor of this historic achievement we look back at his first official point in the league way back in 1996 when he was 18 years old and wearing #8.  What may shock you is that this was his only point of the game and his second pro game played.  He played 6 minutes two nights before in a win against the Timberwolves but missed his only shot attempt.  Kobe’s first game in double figures would happen a week later when he scored 10 against the Raptors.

It’s funny to think that Kobe only scored 539 points his rookie season and here he is now as arguably the greatest Laker ever with over 30,000 points!

If you want to see his very first game as a “pro” then check out his 1st game with the Lakers during the summer league.
