Kobe Bryant stopped by the Jimmy Kimmel show this past week to discuss everything from the Lakers search for a new coach, Phil Jackson, trash-talking with Michael Jordan, raising his daughters and Donald Sterling.
Back in a very dramatic 2004, Bryant considered signing with the Sterling’s Clippers but decided to stay a day after Shaq was traded. Bryant denied he had anything to do with the departure of Shaq and Phil Jackson.
“We had every reason to believe our chances were just as good as the Lakers’ chances,” Clippers general manager Elgin Baylor said. “It’s always disappointing to not get a player like Kobe Bryant. Life goes on. We’re looking forward to a good season.”
Life did go on and thankfully Kobe didn’t have to go to prison that year or join Donald Sterling’s team.
