It was a little more than a year ago when we released the dunk of the year candidate video showing Kwame Alexander’s “Superman” dunk from near the free throw line.  It was no surprise that it made the top play on ESPN’s top 10 that day and it was no surprise to see Kwame walk away with the top prize in yesterday’s Showdown Dunk Contest in LA.

Like last week’s Showdown in San Fran, where Los beat out 2012 Showdown Champion Kenny Dobbs, we saw another Showdown Champ (2011), Young Hollywood, loose to a new competitor but after looking at Kwame’s dunk resume which includes broken backboards, Sportscenter top spots and countless posters in the Drew League, there’s not much shame in losing to Kwame…Alexander that is.
