“This is special,” said Irving, who scored 27 of his 32 points in the 2nd half against the Pelicans and also dished out nine assists. “We played well as a group.”

The 9 assists were 3 more than his total in the past 2 games which included a donut in 45 minutes vs Utah.

Along with James, the duo scored 49 of the team’s 67 2nd half points – including 30 in the 3rd quarter which helped the Cavs overcome a 9 point deficit.

After the game, he received some praise from James, who called Irving “his quarterback” and got videobombed by Dion Waiters.
