With LeBron James sitting out the game between the Cavs and Thunder, Kyrie Irving needed to step up against Russell Westbrook and OKC. He did manage to score a team-high 20 points and dish out 6 assists but he struggled all night on the offensive end – missing 14 of 21 shots – and on the defensive end against Westbrook and Durant…YES Durant!
Westbrook racked up a game high 26 points along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds. He also made 5 of his first 7 shots in the first quarter. Then when Irving was put on Kevin Durant in the final minutes, the struggling KD scored the Thunder’s final 8 points in the game.
If all that wasn’t bad enough news for our favorite Uncle, he also bumped knees with Westbrook which looked initially worse than what it seems now.
“It will definitely stiffen up on me, without a doubt, but I plan on playing tomorrow,” Irving said. “It just depends on how it feels in the morning. But as of right now, I’m going to gut it out, no matter what.”
