Alley-oop to Black. Between the legs to Nick Young for 3. No-look to Bass. Bullet to Metta. Bounce to Sacre and Kelly.  Against the Blazers on Monday, Marcelo Huertas looked like a younger, shorter, Brazilian Magic Johnson…OK, he physically looks nothing like the greatest Laker and point guard of all-time but the 32 year old rookie did show a lot of showtime in his game last night and his teammates are loving it.

“Especially shooters,” Coach Byron Scott said Monday. “They love to play with guys that pass. He’s obviously strictly a throwback-type point guard where he’s thinking about setting up his teammates before he ever thinks about scoring.”

It’s probably also a good thing that he thinks pass first because he only made 3 of 9 shots in 19 minutes. But he was 2 for 2 during his NBA debut on Sunday and had 6 assists in just 12 minutes. With those type of numbers you can bet the only true point guard on the Lakers is going to make the cut and make a lot of shooters really happy.
