The significance of the smile is that it’s rare to see a player smile after hitting a game winner.  The emotion is still joy but usually it’s a cocky mean muggin expression that’s displayed on the face of the last second heroes.

I’m not saying there’s some type of celebration etiquette players need to follow but it was actually nice to see a guy look “happy” after hitting a game winner especially when his team was down by 17 at halftime.  Congrats LaMarcus – smiling All-Star!
