“All you want to do is score the ball. And then you want to dance with it for 20 minutes before you hit a shot. Cause you selfish and don’t want to win.”
That’s just a sample of what coach LaVar Ball had to say to his son and star player on the Big Ballers team after a 10-point loss at the Double Pump Summer Tip-Off. Melo did score 50 points (less than 24 hours after scoring 51) but missed 34 of 56 shots, 18 of 24 threes and 5 of 15 free throws.
But it wasn’t Melo’s shot selection on offense that seemed to piss off LaVar the most, it was the defensive effort.
“You are the weakest link we have on defense. You don’t move but you will look. You got some good ass eyes. Until you learn to be like your brother and play both ends, we are going to be a sorry team.”
That’s tough love! And before you start trashing LaMelo, keep in mind he’s just 15-years old and is ranked #1 on ESPN’s top point guards for the Class of 2019.
