Roy Hibbert apologized for his Post Game 6 press conference answers that included a “motherfucker” and “no homo” drop but that didn’t stop David Stern from asking Hibbert to drop 75k as punishment. I’m sure Roy isn’t happy about it but he can’t have much of an issue considering he followed one of those drops with a I don’t care if I get fined statement.
Although I don’t have an issue with Roy being fined for the overall press conference I do think some of the public and media is being a little oversensitive about the “homophobic slur.” The Nation website even ridiculously suggested Roy should be suspended for the biggest game of his NBA career so far in tonight’s Game 7 against LeBron and the Miami Heat.
What I find interesting is that LeBron once dropped a “Put it in my mouth, no homo” joke among a bunch of reporters and he wasn’t fined a penny for the “homophobic slur” that came out of his mouth . Can I insert No Homo here or will that upset some readers? Can I bring this incident up without being called a LeBron hater (which i’m 180 degrees from)? Can I get a great Game 7 tonight?
