LeBron James scored a season-high 42 points to go with 11 rebounds and 5 assists to give the Cavs a win over the red-hot Warriors and the 18th Cavs win in their last 20 games. Oh yeah, and he did that with a sore back.
“If he plays like that with a sore back, imagine how well he’ll play when he doesn’t have a sore back.” said Coach Blatt.
The performance moved LeBron ahead of Elgin Baylor for most 40/5/5 games. His 41 trails only the Big O (71), MJ (62) and Wilt (61). The performance also helped generate some more MVP talk for the King but LeBron didn’t seem to care about that discussion.
“That’s not why I’m here,” said LeBron. “I’ve got to be the MVP for these guys, the 14 guys in the locker room. When I’m on the floor, I’ll try to do everything I can to help this team win.”
