“I got a KD watch on my phone” – said LeBron after he recited Kevin Durant’s stats to Marc Spears.
LeBron, along with the rest of the sports world, has been talking a lot about Durant’s game and stats recently. Amazing stats like a 41/5/6 average over 5 games that included a career high 54 and last night’s ridiculous 46 with 11 points in the last 3 minutes of the Thunder’s comeback win against the Blazers.
“When the basket is an ocean, you can’t really do much about it,” Portland guard Wesley Matthews said. “He’s been on a roll.”
“He did what he’s been doing the last two weeks,” Portland guard Damian Lillard said. “You look up, he’s hitting 50 and 45 and 50 again and 40 and up. We knew coming in that he’s been shooting the ball well.”
So well that Mo Williams said “The way he was playing, he probably could have scored on Jesus.”
When Mo said Jesus, he wasn’t talking about Ray Allen either. Durant is playing on a Godly level right now and his 4th 45+ point game of the month (so far) puts him only behind Kobe Bryant with the most 45 point games in a month since the 1977 merger.
“I’m just having fun out there. I’m blessed to play this game,” Durant said. “So every moment I’m on the court is fun for me no matter how the game’s going. When you play this game and you look to the bench and you see your teammates so happy for you, all I can do is smile because I know they’re genuinely happy for me, for the team. It’s a great feeling when you have a group of brothers supporting you no matter what, so that’s what I’m smiling for.”
Everybody should be happy with KD’s recent success, well, with the exception of every player that has to try to defend him and LeBron who gets “jealous” when he looks at his KD watch app.
