The barbershop conversation about best point guard in the NCAA got a lot more interesting on Saturday after No. 1 Kentucky lost to No.11 UCLA. UK’s freshman phenom De’Aaron Fox dominated the first half and had the better final stats with 20 points and 9 assists but at the end of the game it was Lonzo Ball celebrating the five-point victory. Ball finished with a decent looking line of 14 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds, but was just 1 of 5 in the first half with 5 turnovers and 3 assists.
The odds are the performances and win didn’t change anybody’s mind but it probably made everybody a little bigger of a fan of each of the future future NBA lottery picks. Here’s what they are averaging so far this season.
BALL: 14.6 points, 9.6 assists, 4.9 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 2.3 turnovers
FOX: 15.3 points, 7.6 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 2.7 turnovers
GOOD DAY TO BE A BALL BROTHER
Also worth mentioning is Lonzo Ball hasn’t lost a game since March of 2015 and on this same day, his younger brother, Gelo, hit a game-winning 3-pointer. Ball is life!
