In the past week, Lonzo Ball recorded triple-doubles while wearing Nike Kobe AD kicks (scored 36 like Kobe) and Adidas James Harden ones (turned the ball over 7 times like Harden) after playing two games in his $500 BBB sneakers. On Saturday, he played against D’Angelo Russell’s new team while wearing a pair of the Under Armour Steph Curry 4 and responded with 14 points, nine boards and seven assists (4-12 from the filed and 1 for 3 from three, which isn’t very Curry-like). He did get the W and give the Lakers a NBA Summer League Semi-finals berth.
After the game, during an interview with Cassidy Hubbarth (who predicted Ball would be wearing Curry sneakers in this game), he was asked if the Reebok Iverson shoes were next. Ball responded by saying he doesn’t know and will decide when he wakes up. When asked if this was “all part of some master plan” Ball gave a semi-smile and replied, “You could say that.”
The interview ends with some amusing lines by Ball about his “light-skinned brother” Kyle Kuzma, who put up 26 points — 1 number lower than his draft position.
“27th!” Interrupts Ball. “What was they thinking?”
