Cool hand Luke wasn’t so cool in the first quarter of the Lakers loss to the Kings on Monday night. After Boogie Cousins got away with tackling his UK “little brother” Julius Randle, a pissed-off Walton earned himself a pair of techs and an early visit to the locker room.
“Ahh, I love my coach, man,” said Randle, who also earned himself a tech and was just 1 of 7 for the game. “That’s my guy. He backs me up with everything. He has all of our backs 100 percent.”
“I just felt like I needed to stand up for my guys,” Walton said. “I felt like what happened on the floor wasn’t right and my only concern is our guys and the locker room and our team. If I feel like something’s not right I’m going to stand up for my guys.”
D’Angelo Russell, Assistant coach Brian Shaw, 6th Man Lou Williams and (surprise, surprise) Cousins also were hit with techs in the game.
The time Luke made Tom Hanks laugh by picking up a tech for taunting.
