We have been talking about a lot of success stories within the success story of the San Antonio Spurs this sesaon but one person who hasn’t gotten much love and deserves some is Marco Belinelli.
After bouncing around the league for the past few years and being mostly known for getting fined $15k for showing off his “big balls” dance during the Bulls GM7 vs the Nets in 2013, Marco signed with the Spurs last summer and made an instant impact with the team.
Off the court he wasn’t always so lucky (with love).
But back on the court he was doing just fine.
Then in February, Marco took on and beat Kevin Love, Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, Kyrie Irving and Bradley Beal in the 3-point contest at All-Star Weekend.
Marco stayed hot after the contest and put together back-to-back 20 point games and finished the season with an average of 11 points a game.
With the exception of a few games in the Portland series, Marco didn’t do much damage in the playoffs but he still deserves as much love as any other component of that Championship TEAM.
After the final win of the championship season, Marco let all the tears of joy out during an Italian interview.
Who do you want to thank?
Surely my family, my mom, my dad. Probably they’re watching me now…they always believed in me…no one believed in me in these past years…and in the end I won!
So here’s some love to Marco and his memorable season.
