The last time (just last week) we saw Metta World Peace, he was taking and throwing elbows at Venice Beach and then recruiting new players for his VBL team on Twitter.
Today we are hearing Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, wants to now be known as ‘Panda Friend’ when he plays for his new team in China – the Sichuan Blue Whales. But before all that bizarreness happens in Asia, the future Panda will be recruiting and coaching with his friend Gilbert Arenas at this weekend’s Ball Up game in Baltimore. The All-Star streetball event will go down at 6pm at the SECU Arena.
In honor of Metta/Panda/Whatever’s involvement with the game, let’s take a look back at when he was Ron Artest the teenage streetball phenom at Rucker Park who helped Sean Combs/Puffy/Diddy/Whatever win his first EBC championship in 1998.
