(1987) Michael Jordan scored 61 points vs the Pistons
This throwback takes us back to 1987: Before Michael Jordan and the Bulls had a rivalry with the Detroit Pistons and before they created the “Jordan Rules” and figured out they would have to get really physical with MJ to stop him from scoring.
In this game, Jordan had 61 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks in the Bulls 125-120 win over the Pistons. He made 22-of-39 shots from the field and 17-of-18 from the line. For the Pistons, Adrian Dantley had a team high 32 and Isiah Thomas had 31 points and 18 assists.
For an encore performance two nights later, MJ had 27 points, 8 rebounds, 8 steals, 5 assists and 3 blocks against Ewing and the Knicks. In the game after that, MJ had another all-around night with 33/6/5/4/3. He finished the spectacular 87 season with an average of 37 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks per game.
