Two of the league’s early MVP candidates faced off on Tuesday in a memorable game between the Warriors and Pacers.
Despite 33 points from Paul George and his team outscoring the Warriors 40-20 in the 4th quarter, reigning MVP Chef Curry and crew were able to hold on to the win and stretch their NBA record best start to 23-0.
Curry finished the game with 29 points, 10 assists, 7 rebound and 3 3-pointers while teammate Klay Thompson stole the 3-point show by going 10 of 16.
“This team is good. One thing about them: They’ve got a championship confidence,” said George who had 5 3s of his own along with 8 boards, 6 assists and 3 steals. “Every guy is out there to make plays. They know how to put the ball in the hole. It’s not just Stephen. It’s not just Klay. All of them had that confidence to make plays and make shots.”
The 33 point performance by Paul is his 6th 30+ game in his last 7 – 2 of those 7 were 40+ games.
