43-year old Derek Fisher is the fourth NBA player going for that Mirror Ball Trophy on Dancing With The Stars. The first three did as well as Fisher did at coaching the Knicks: Clyde Drexler came in eighth, Rick Fox sixth and Metta World Peace was the first to get booted during his season.
The five-time NBA champion teamed up with Sharna Burgess for the show’s 25th season and looked surprisingly good in week one, doing the salsa to Kurtis Blow’s ‘Basketball.’ The routine started started off with a lean-looking Fisher dribbling the ball and jumping the highest I’ve seen him jump since he dunked on Allen Iverson during his rookie season. Their score was an 18 out of 30, which was good enough to be tied for fifth among the 11 partners.
As we wait to see how one of Kobe Bryant’s only basketball friends does in week two and what Matt Barnes will say when Fisher gets eliminated, here’s some “highlights” of the past NBA players, and owner Mark Cuban, on DWTS.
