Last month, an NBA All-Star exhibition game in the Philippines that was supposed to feature Blake Griffin, James Harden, Damian Lillard and Paul George was cancelled. Then we had the Paul George injury in the Team USA game which brought out a lot more criticism of NBA players playing in summer games. Now we have an exhibition game in Israel that was supposed to feature Magic Johnson, Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook being cancelled. But the reason for this cancellation was over the safety of the players due to the violence in Gaza, not safety from possibly getting injured on the court.
The plan of the event was to have the NBA stars attend the opening of a new arena in Jerusalem next month and play against a team (Heopel Jurusalem) co-owned by Amare Stoudemire and agent Arn Tellem.
