2kSports held a premier party at Greystone Manor in West Hollywood and my how things have changed. The production budgets on games have competed with major blockbuster films for the past decade but now the marketing budgets and promotional strategies of games are competing with Hollywood’s most expensive green lit products but then again, when you look at the sales of recent games like GTA V which only took 3 days to gross a billion and last years COD: Black Ops 2 which only took 2 weeks to hit the billion mark, it’s understandable. Only 17 films have ever grossed (domestic & international) over a billion dollars.
It’s just amusing to me to see women like America’s Next Top Model Adrianne Curry, model Kiara Belen and socialites Maylaysia Pargo, Karrueche Tran and Audrina Patridge modeling for paparazzi and photographers at a party for a basketball video game. NBA Jam celebrated it’s home release on Nintendo with full page magazine ads and a very forgettable “NBA Jam: The Music Videos” VHS hosted by Joe Public.
Aside from the hot women, NBA players Nick Young, Harrison Barnes, Iguodala, Ryan Hollins and Brandon Jennings were in attendance. Other celebs including The Game, Nick Cannon, MMA fighter Cung Le and rapper Juicy J who thankfully didn’t show up with Miley Cyrus to perform the god awful tribute to MJ “23” were also there to celebrate the game that hopes to rebury the resurrected NBA Live franchise.
