NBA3X: The Future of 3-on-3 Basketball Tournaments (Kobe/Obama)

Published on April 25th, 2012 by Astramskas, David | 3,740 views

So who wants to guard Obama?

If you were in your teens or older in the 90s you probably played in a Hoop It Up Tournament.   You also probably watched White Men Can’t Jump to get hyped up for it.

If you were in your teens in the last decade then you probably more familiar with the Nike 3-on-3 Event or Gus Macker Tournaments.

With 3-on-3 basketball interest at an all-time high, especially at the International level where 3-on-3 is being pushed to become an Olympic sport, the future of the sport might be the NBA’s new league called NBA3X.

NBA3X starts this Sunday April 29th in Houston Texas as part of NBANation‘s Summer Tour which also includes the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown & Sprite Uncontainable campaign.

I still would like to see the NBA drop a few Allstar weekend events and add 3 on 3 (better yet 1 on 1 but that’s not happening).   Who wouldn’t want to watch Durant, Westbrook, Harden (Ibaka on bench) take on the best three on any other team – yeah I’m talking about LeBron, Wade & Bosh.  I’m assuming Kobe would rather have Bynum & Gasol then Matt Barnes (video below)
