It’s safe to say the reception Nerlens Noel got during his first game against his former team was a lot nicer than Mavs coach Rick Carlisle probably was after the 76ers gave the Mavs a 116-74 beatdown.

Most of the fans cheered for Noel when he checked in midway through the first quarter and he responded by putting up 9 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, a block and a steal against the team that traded for him on draft night. He was just one of three Mavs to shoot over 50%.

“This is by far the worst of the year in terms of energy, effort and togetherness,” Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said. “They outplayed us in every way possible. We just didn’t show up. We’ve all got to look in the mirror. I’m not going to write it off as one of those nights. This kind of performance is inexcusable.”
