Check it…on this date in history, back on March 14th of 1995, 5’9″ Dana Barros dropped 50 points on the Clutch City Rockets. Although Philly’s Barros was a decent scorer, and an All-Star that year, he’s become one of those names that surprises people when they learn that he scored 50 — just like his teammate Willie Burton, who scored 53 a year earlier.

Barros also had 8 assists to go with his 50, a feat that has only been done by 12 other people (LeBron has done it the most with 7). The other surprising stats about Dana’s performance was that he only made and attempted two free throws and connected on 21-of-26 field goals. That’s efficient!

Unfortunately for Barros, his teammates did absolutely nothing in this game and they lost by 29 (136-107).

Barros was also one of the ballers featured on the 90’s “B-Ball’s Best Kept Secret” collaboration album. Here’s his song “Check it.”
