Check it…on this day in history, back on March 14th of 1995, 5’9 Dana Barros scored 50 points against the Houston Rockets.  Although Philly’s Barros was a decent scorer, and an All-Star that year, he’s become one of those names that surprises people when they learn that he scored 50 – just like his teammate Willie Burton who scored 53 a year earlier.

Barros also had 8 assists to go with his 50, a feat that has only been done by 12 other people (LeBron has done it the most with 7).  The other surprising stats about Dana’s performance was that he only made and attempted 2 free throws and connected on 21 of 26 field goals.

Unfortunately for Barros, his teammates did absolutely nothing and they lost by 29 (136-107).

Barros was also one of the ballers featured on the “B-Ball’s Best Kept Secret” album.  Here’s his song “Check it.”
