Patrick McCaw only had one field goal during his 29-minutes of action against the God-awful Grizzlies on Wednesday. But that field goal — a nasty putback dunk off a missed Nick Young shot — generated one of the best Warriors bench reactions since the days of Kent Bazemore reacting to Black Falcon posters.
The borderline ridiculous reaction by Kevin Durant, JaVale McGee, Kevon Looney and Jordan Bell also generated my favorite NBA photo of the year (thank you Ezra Shaw!).
McCaw couldn’t throw a rock in the ocean on this night (1-6 FG) or his last three nights (2-13 in his last three games) but the 2nd round pick did have a nice roto-friendly stat line with 8 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
One Warrior who didn’t have any issues making shots was Klay Thompson. The Grizzly killer knocked down his first nine shots and scored 27 of his 29 points in the first half. The reason why I called him a Grizzly killer is because he knocked down seven threes against them last season and had a 26-point second quarter against them back in 2015.
Back to awesome bench celebrations, here’s a nice tribute to Bazemore and his bench celebrations during his time in Golden State.
The finals seconds of this video shows KD, McGee, Looney and Bell getting in position for the epic photo above.
