Remember back in 2014 when Paul George crossed and then dunked on LeBron in a game? A game where George finished with 23 points and 8 boards and LeBron had 38 and 8. How about when George dropped 21 of his 37 points in the 4th quarter vs LeBron and the Heat in GM5 of the 2014 playoffs?
After breaking his leg a few months after that GM5, many initially thought those duels between George and James were done. Thankfully that’s not true and on Sunday, the two faced off and both put on a great show against each other. George scored 32 points and grabbed 11 boards while James scored 29 points and was clutch at the line and made some big assists in the final minutes of the Cavs victory.
“The guy is unbelievable.” Coach Blatt said. “He really is. I don’t have a better word than that.”
Even the opposing team’s coach was full of praise.
“LeBron is the best player in the game,” Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. “We all know that.”
Paul George may or may not know and/or agree with his coach’s statement about LeBron but he wanted to make it clear that it doesn’t scare him.
“I think we match up well against this team,” Paul George said. “This team doesn’t really scare us. They had to play a full game against us. It’s on us to get where we want to get to. It’s all about who gets the last laugh when we’re in the NBA Finals or playing against the Cavs in the Eastern Conference finals or whoever.”
