When you think of celebrity Knicks fans, names like Spike Lee, Woody Allen, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock and Michael Rapaport are often mentioned. One of the names that I always think of, who always gets overlooked – as a famous sports fan and rap legend, although I’m sure A Tribe Called Quest documentary director Rapaport would acknowledge – is ATCQ’s Malik Taylor aka Phife Dawg aka The Five Footer aka The Five Foot Assassin.

On Tuesday night, the rap legend from Queens with the best “yo” in the history of hip-hop reportedly passed away at the age of 45. His cause of death hasn’t been released yet but Phife did suffer from diabetes and had a kidney removed back in 2008.

In honor of Phife, let’s take a look back at some of his sports moments, starting with a 1993 Yo! MTV Raps segment with Phife at the 1st Annual Dr Dre & Ed Lover Celebrity basketball game and ending with a shot of him as a playable character in NBA2k7 and 2k9.
