The 90s was tough on gamers that wanted to play with Michael Jordan but not in a game with Looney Tune characters or a fighting game to save the windy city.   In 1999, EA sports was able to put MJ back in basketball action in NBA Live 2000 and for the next few years as the real MJ was crossing off things on his bucket list while playing with the Washington Wizards.

In 2001, during the rising popularity of streetball in the mainstream, EA created the NBA Street series which also featured MJ.  Vol2 actually allowed you to play with 3 different Jordans – rookie MJ, 1996 MJ or over the hill but still scoring 50 for the Wiz MJ.
