On Tuesday, also known as the first day of the Magic Johnson as President of the Lakers era, the greatest Laker of all-time (sorry Kobe worshipers) traded 6th Man of the Year candidate Lou Williams and a 1st-round draft pick to the Houston Rockets for Corey Brewer.
It’s been a while since we have heard Brewer’s name since he’s only averaging four points in 16 minutes for the Rockets this season but Lakers fans will always remember one specific play from the back-to-back NCAA champ…
The play came during Brewer’s third season in the league, when he was a member of the 2009 Minnesota “Passed on Steph Curry twice in the draft” TWolves. Brewer only scored 10 points in the loss but had the play of the day when he destroyed Derek Fisher worse than Matt Barnes in a backyard scuffle.
As a Laker fan, I can’t show this dunk without showing his breakaway dunk fail against the Lakers in 2014…
During this season, he also scored a career-high 51 points against the Houston Rockets and that was enough for them to make a trade for him at the end of the year.
