With 4:52 second left in a passing exhibition (46 assists on 55 field goals)/offensive beatdown (133-112) on the Orlando Magic, Kevin Durant shouted some sweet nothings at the ref and then took an early shower for the second time this season and in his career. The ejection marks the 4th time a Warrior has been ejected and 12th time a player has been ejected this season.

“The refs run the game so if they’re not feeling good today they can make any decision they want. I know they got all the power. I just gotta shut up and take it. … I guess I tried to show him up and he didn’t like it so he threw me out. … It should have been two shots, but he didn’t give me an explanation on that cause I kept asking him about it.”

Here’s Steve Kerr’s two cents on the ejection.

“He got fouled on a shot and for some reason they didn’t give him two free throws. Which was kind of bizarre. It was one of the most bizarre non-calls I’ve ever seen. It looked so obvious that he should have been at the line. So, I’m sure he was upset about it. I was upset about that too.

“He said the bad word, the magic word. I told Scott Foster, I call you that all the time and you never kicked me out, he said, ‘But I am one.'”

I was looking at the NBA leaders in ejections over the past few years and on most years, two is good enough to tie a league high. Last year was an exceptional year with Markieff Morris and Paul George both getting ejected four times. In 2013, Brandon Jennings led the league with three. Then in 2012, we had Larry Sanders getting ejected five times! What makes this so great is Sanders only played 27 games that season and averaged 21 minutes in those games. If that wasn’t enough to put him on the league’s $hit list, he was suspended 10 games that season for violating the league’s drug policy.

Back to the present day, here’s a list of players, besides KD, to get the boot so far this season: Carmelo Anthony, Bradley Beal, Boogie Cousins, Steph Curry, Anthony Davis(first career ejection), Draymond Green, Nikola Jokic, LeBron James (first career ejection), Kyle Lowry, Markieff Morris and PJ Tucker. And here’s proof that some of these refs need a vacation, BJ, Xanax or something to help them chill out.
