Despite a total of 10 turnovers and awful shooting from James Harden and Chris Paul, the Houston Rockets were able to remain unbeaten (4-0) in the preseason after beating the Memphis Grizzlies 101-89.
Harden missed 11 of his 13 shots and put up a donut from the 3-point line, while CP3 missed 9 of his 12 shots and 5 of his 7 three point attempts. Ariza stepped up with 16 points (6-of-9 shooting) and 9 boards and Clint Capella shined with 15 points, 9 boards and 5 blocks against Marc Gasol (12/2/1).
“This was a good game for us,” Chris Paul said via the Houston Chronicle. “The other games were 3, 3, 3. This was good for us to see, on a night we’re not making shots, this is what we’re talking about, having to defend. I think we picked up our energy and intensity. Everyone knows around this league, you’re not going to make shots every single night. But you can control your effort on the defensive end.”
