Check out Houston Rocket’s rookie Nick Johnson going off for 39 points during his assignment with the Rio Grande Vipers in the D-League. You might remember the former PAC-12 player of the year with Arizona throwing down some of the most memorable dunks during the NBA preseason and if you were one in Houston last month to watch the Rockets open practice then you got to see a reason why he should be a candidate to be in the NBA dunk contest.
But Nick wasn’t the only exciting thing about this game which ended with a wild regulation finish. In the last 24 seconds, 4 different players hit a 3-pointer to force OT.
After 3 overtimes, Nick and the Vipers eventually came away with a 151-148 win.
Nick’s statline was 39 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks in 43 minutes.
