On Monday we shared an amusing PSA from a Duke fan called #SaveJahlil. Later that night, Jahlil and fellow rookie of the year contender, Karl-Anthony Towns, faced off in Minneapolis and I could just hear Sarah McLachlan’s voice playing in the background. Jahlil finished the game with a team-high 25 points (10-15 shooting) and 12 boards in 33 minutes while #1 overall pick Towns had an off-night with just 6 points and 2 rebounds in 19 minutes. BUT…Towns and the TWovles got the W, sending the 76ers back home with a 0-15 record.
As bad as 0-15 sounds, they are actually 0-25 in their last 25 games if you go back to last season.
“It’s not a moral victory,” Okafor said. “Ten games ago, we had some pretty close games that we lost. We are doing better, but we’re trying to get our first win.”
Meanwhile over in Miami, rookie Kristaps Porzingis put up 20 points and 14 rebounds in a loss to the Heat. If all 3 of these guys keep up their production, It’s going to be a fun rookie of the year race.
