Russell Westbrook’s expression at the end of this clip shows how nasty this sequence was. First, the best rebounding point guard in the league gets way up and grabs a rebound over David West, then he takes off full speed, drops Patty Mills with a crossover and makes a tough layup over Danny Green.
Some of you might try to defend Mills (no pun intended) and say he slipped. The floor might have been a little slippery but Mills has a history of getting crossed and even once got on his knees to propose to Jamal Crawford.
Back to Westbrook, the man Kevin Durant called a “maniac” after the game, finished with 35 points, 11 boards and 9 assists in the game 5 win.
“He dictated how we wanted to play,” Durant said of Westbrook. “He was getting to the rim, knocking down the jump shot, knocking down the 3. So he had all levels working tonight. Once he does that, he’s too dangerous because they play back on him, not wanting him to get to the rim, and he’s knocking the jump shot down.”
