Robbie is the lead designer of the adidas Basketball Footwear and has worked with Derrick Rose on all of his signature shoes and is now working with Damien Lillard on the crazy light boost shoe. We got a chance to chat with Robbie to really just talk to him about his experience in working with players and their design choices on shoes. What was cool was how Robbie spoke about certain players putting more into a shoe and eventually just learning how that player was going to respond to specific design choices ahead of time.
adidas made headlines this past year by getting Kanye West inked to a deal, so of course I had to talk to Robbie about what it was like to work with “Yeezus”. What we learned was that Kanye is actually very into his design choices, much like his music. He’s very outspoken and knows what he wants which to Robbie was actually awesome to work with and is an honor to collab with on Kanye’s upcoming shoe.
