With a few seconds left in the first quarter, LeBron limped off the court with an ankle injury. Unfortunately for Elfrid Payton and the Orlando Magic, the injury didn’t slow James down as he returned in the 2nd quarter with a vengeance and had his way with the Magic defense: 25 points and a game-high 8 assists in just 29 minutes as the Cavs destroyed the Magic 111-76.
On one memorable (not if you are Elfrid Payton) and-1 play in the 2nd quarter, LeBron swatted his shoulder like a fly was on it after Payton tried to stop him by grabbing him with both hands.
James sat out the 4th quarter after the Cavs doubled the Magic’s scoring in the 3rd and had a 29 point lead going into the 4th.
“It’s the second time it’s happened this year and it’s not a great feeling,” James said of the injury. “I know I’m going to feel it tonight and tomorrow, but it’s mind over matter at this point, and I was happy I was able to sit in the game in the second half.”
