The best team in the league showed a little Showtime during their 22 point easy-win over the 76ers who have now lost 25 games in a row. The Spurs also continued their streak by winning their 14th game in a row.
The big story in tonight’s game was the exceptional breakout play of newly acquired Austin Daye who, besides making the highlight above happen, had 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 3-pointers for the Spurs.
“He’s lucky,” Brown said, “and I’ve seen this over so many years — people can come into that system and shine. This system creates opportunities for everybody, and he took advantage of those. The attention you have to give others and the movement that they have in their structure allowed him to get freed up a lot. He reaped the benefit of playing in that system.”
“He’s a skilled guy,” Popovich said. “Obviously he can shoot it. But he’s also a good passer. He knows how to play the game. It was good to be able to get him some time tonight.”
