Dmitriy “Smoove” Krivenko doesn’t get the credit he deserves and mentioned in the “greatest dunker in the world” arguments because most of us in the US don’t get to see him as much as the domestic dunkers playing for the And1 or Ballup streetball teams or competing in Nike and Sprite dunk contests here, but Smoove has been on the dunking scene for a while, amazingly still improving and deserving of being mentioned with the best of the best in the world.

This past weekend, one of the best American dunkers and winner of the 2013 Charlotte Sprite Showdown, Chris “HoopStar” Staples, had the opportunity to fly overseas and take flight against Smoove in the Sprite Slam Dunk at 3×3 EuroTour 2013 Tallinn Open.  After watching Smoove’s best dunk, a remix of the Shawn Kemp & Rex Chapman behind the back self alley-oop, Staples posted on Facebook “I give credit where it’s due.  It’s a reason they call him Smoove.”

After watching the recap video of the impressive event that also included standout dunkers Rafal “Lipek” Lipinski, Kristaps Dargais, Emil “Slash” Olszewski, Karl Lumi and Vincent van Sliedregt, I had to give credit where it’s due and share this video (that was not made in the 90s despite the song used).
